Introducing New Zealand Manuka Honey

Manuka is a flowering tea tree native to New Zealand.  The honey that is collected from these flowers has long been renowned for its remarkable beneficial properties.

Manuka Honey contains special antibacterial properties in addition to antioxidants that assist regeneration of new cells as well as neutralise skin cell damage.

Manuka Honey is also a natural humectant; acting to prevent loss of moisture in addition to being extremely rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals that nourish, soothe and heal sensitive skin.

Benefits of Manuka Honey

Every Wild Ferns Manuka Honey skincare product contains premium certified New Zealand Manuka Honey with percentage ranging from 80 to 100 Manuka Pollen analysis (Manuka Honey 80+) , which defines its pureness and authenticity.

This exceeds the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) guideline of greater than 70% Manuka pollen for Manuka Honey to be classified as mono-floral.

Introducing New Zealand Bee Venom

Bee Venom is a combination of chemical substances produced by the worker and queen honey bee to defend the honey bee colony. Conversely the Bee Venom also contains 18 active compounds which have pharmacological properties to human skin.

Bee Venom contains a number of unique low-molecule peptides and “miracle” enzymes such as Phospholipase A2 and Hyaluronidase. These enzymes dissolve the skin membrane improving skin penetrability for better absorption of different active ingredients.

When Bee Venom skincare comes in contact with your skin, your body reacts like it has been stung, stimulating the skin to produce Collagen and Elastin.  Combined with the skin boosting benefits of Manuka Honey, these key ingredients work to achieve the perfect balance to assist in the health, wellbeing and natural enhancement of the skin.

Benefits of Bee Venom

Not all Bee Venom is equal, which is why at Wild Ferns we use VENZ Bee Venom (Venom New Zealand) in our products. This is to ensure you get the best quality Bee Venom available, through shared commitment by Parrs and VENZ to produce the highest quality of products, in-depth biotechnological research, and reputation for producing the most ethical Bee Venom available.

VENZ invented a collection device for venom that does not kill the bees. The device consists of a glass sheet that conducts a gentle electric current which makes the bees, that are on the glass sheet automatically stick out their stingers and pump a small amount of venom out. This is then collected and purified for storage, before being added into Wild Ferns Bee Venom products.

Wild Ferns Bee Venom also contains premium certified New Zealand Manuka Honey 80+, Manuka Honey that has been tested under tight controls which assesses the purity of the honey based on pollen count. This testing ensures that the product we bring to market contains the greatest levels of natural Manuka properties; which make Manuka Honey unique for its abilities in helping to enhance the health and appearance of the skin.

Introducing Rotorua Mud

Rich in rejuvenating minerals Wild Ferns Rotorua Mud has natural cleansing, antiseptic, healing and rebalancing properties because of its volcanic origin.

Rotorua Mud is rich in volcanic gases and minerals from the centre of the earth. Major minerals present in Rotorua Mud include silica, magnesium, calcium, titanium, iron, sulphur, phosphorus, sodium and potassium.

Rotorua Mud is excellent for use in regenerative skin care as it has a very strong affinity for moisture. On drying, the mud will generate heat, increasing the blood circulation and perspiration that help eliminate toxins and other wastes.

It easily absorbs excess oils and fatty secretions from within the skin’s pores, detoxifies and purifies and, as the mud dries on the skin, helps promote the regeneration of new cells.

Benefits of Rotorua Mud

The thermal mud used in all our Wild Ferns Rotorua Mud skincare products is obtained from the hot mud pools in Rotorua.

The mud is firstly sterilised, then refined to remove any foreign matter, while ensuring the mineral and trace elements are left to provide benefits to this highly therapeutic mud.

Introducing Lanolin

With its crisp mountain air and lush green rolling hills, New Zealand provides the ideal environment for producing some of the finest sheep and wool products, including Lanolin, in the world.

Lanolin has long been renowned for its extremely beneficial moisturising and nourishing properties and therefore is ideal as a key ingredient in a skincare range.

Lanolin is readily absorbed into the skin making it look and feel younger and softer, whilst improving the suppleness and elasticity associated with healthy, youthful skin.

Like hair, wool grows back again and again therefore making lanolin a completely renewable resource.

Benefits of Lanolin

A number of ingredients have been added to the Lanolin skincare collection to further enhance the conditioning and rebalancing benefits of these crèmes and lotions.

These include anti-oxidant rich Green Tea and Ginseng, nourishing and energising Royal Jelly, Collagen to provide the skin with strength, flexibility and resilience, Aloe Vera to soothe, skin boosting Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) and protein rich Placenta which helps increase the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the skin, which in turn helps to promote cell renewal.

Introducing Flowers

Wild Ferns Native Flowers is a luxurious collection of pampering products that feature the delicious fragrance of a combination of flowers unique to New Zealand.  This range ignites your senses, makes your body smell gorgeous and your skin feel soft.

The flowers that feature in our Wild Ferns Native Flowers collection include Manuka, Pohutukawa, Harakeke (NZ Flax), Kowhai and Puriri.

Manuka
This is a small tree that grows abundantly throughout New Zealand, particularly in rugged coastal areas. It has delicate white or pink flowers, and is renowned worldwide for the oil extracted from the leaves and the nectar that produces health beneficial manuka honey.

Pohutukawa
The Pohutukawa are also known as the New Zealand Christmas Tree due to the abundance of striking red flowers that bloom in December.

The Pohutukawa flowers are one of the more easily recognised native New Zealand flowers.

Harakeke (NZ Flax)
This is one of the most versatile native New Zealand plants. They are found throughout New Zealand, and usually feature tall green sword like leaves.

Flax flowers appear on a tall stalk and can vary in colour from yellow to red to orange.

Kowhai
The drooping bright yellow flower of the Kowhai tree is also one of the more easily recognised native flowers in New Zealand. Very popular with the native Tui bird, the Kowhai tree can be found throughout New Zealand.

Puriri
The Puriri tree is an evergreen tree found more commonly in the North Island of New Zealand.

It can flower throughout the year with colourful rose pink flowers, which are similar in appearance to a snapdragon flower.

Introducing Kiwifruit

New Zealand is the home of the world’s finest Kiwifruit, an oval shaped fruit with a brown and fuzzy skin and a bright emerald green or golden flesh with tiny, black edible seeds.  They have a delicious taste (similar to that of a gooseberry, hence the original name of the fruit) and a fresh, full fragrance.

Not only are kiwifruit delicious to eat, they are naturally high in vitamins and minerals and antioxidants that are all beneficial for the health and enhancement of your skin.

The vitamins that are found in abundance in kiwifruit include Vitamin E and Vitamin C.

Benefits of Kiwifruit

The Wild Ferns Kiwifruit skincare products use either concentrated kiwifruit extract, or kiwi seed oil that is extracted when the tiny black seeds are pressed in.  The Vitamin E, also called the “youth vitamin” helps to regenerate the skin’s cells and maintain tone and elasticity and combats bad circulation.

Vitamin C is excellent for cell renewal along with being particularly hydrating and rejuvenating.  The antioxidants found in kiwi fruit helps neutralise free radicals in the environment.

These free radicals are caused by everyday environmental factors such as air, sunlight and pollution.  They have been medically recognised as the cause of degenerative skin diseases such as wrinkles and skin discolouration, and can damage cells and harm the immune system.

It is believed that using products that are high in antioxidants can help prevent or limit these negative effects.
